Jamaal Charles' season is almost certainly over.
The Kansas City Chiefs running back left Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears after suffering a non-contact knee injury and was promptly ruled out for the day.
Charles took a handoff from quarterback Alex Smith, tried to cut off his right leg and fell to the turf in agony. He had to be helped off the field.
After the game, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid told reporters preliminary tests indicate Charles suffered a torn ACL. Charles will undergo an MRI on Monday to confirm the diagnosis.
The injury is to Charles' right knee. His 2011 season came to an early end when he tore the ACL in his left knee.
