Silva went down in the seventh minute of play, and while he tried to continue, two minutes later, he succumbed to an apparent ankle injury and went down once more. Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata replaced him early in the match.
This injury will be particularly hard on City fans as one day earlier, Argentina striker Sergio Aguero left a World Cup qualifier against Ecuador with a torn hamstring.
AS reports that Silva picked up a sprained ankle ligament.
