DFS: Week 5 NFL Combo Plays

Only two players caught multiple touchdowns in Week 4. The names on the tip of everyone's tongue: Carolina Panthers WR Ted Ginn Jr. and St. Louis Rams WR Tavon Austin.

Neither receiver can be considered a reliable daily fantasy option, and it's more likely than not that their best fantasy week of the season is now behind them.

Here are the Week 5 combo plays with the best chance of returning and exceeding value:

Best Bets

Here are the more affordable quarterback/pass-catcher combinations to target for use in GPPs:

Jay Cutler and Alshon Jeffery, Bears (at Chiefs)

Cutler made his return to the lineup in Week 4 against the Oakland Raiders, throwing for 281 yards, two touchdowns and one interception.

The Chiefs rank No. 28 in passing yards allowed this season, and they've also allowed the most passing touchdowns (11).

Jeffery (hamstring) was reportedly close to playing in Week 4, but he was ultimately given an extra week of rest. The Bears desperately need a No. 1 receiving threat, and it will be an excellent matchup for Jeffery's return.

Update: Jeffery's status appears to be on the wrong side of the questionable status:

Cutler and WR Marquess Wilson or WR Eddie Royal can be considered as an alternative.

Drew Brees and Brandin Cooks, Saints (at Eagles)

Brees finally looked like himself in the Week 4 win over the Dallas Cowboys, throwing for 359 yards and two touchdowns. He has targeted Cooks eight times in three of four games, and although Cooks is yet to break through, he remains the focus of the Saints' passing game.

The Eagles' pass defense has allowed at least six receptions, 55 yards and one touchdown to each opposing No. 1 wide receiver they've faced this year, setting the table nicely for Cooks' biggest game of the season.

Alex Smith and Jeremy Maclin, Chiefs (vs. Bears)

Consider the following...

Smith and the Chiefs seem to have finally figured out how to properly use Maclin's skill set, and he could approach 150 receiving yards for the third-consecutive week.
