Report: Saints to release Kenny Phillips

The New Orleans Saints are releasing safety Kenny Phillips, according to FOX Sports' Mike Garafolo.
Phillips recorded 12 tackles in three games this season.
Jairus Byrd returned to the Saints' starting lineup after suffering a torn knee ligament last season. Byrd's presence likely made Phillips expendable.
Phillips returned to football this season after last suiting up in 2012, with his hiatus due to a series of injuries.
