Penguins' Dupuis to miss season opener with undisclosed injury

Pittsburgh Penguins forward Pascal Dupuis will not play in the season opener, general manager Jim Rutherford told Seth Rorabaugh of the Pittsburgh-Post-Gazette.

Dupuis will miss Thursday's game against the Dallas Stars due to an undisclosed injury, the GM confirmed.

The 36-year-old winger missed the final 66 games of the 2014-15 season due to a blood clot in his lung, but the injury is not blood clot related, according to Bob McKenzie of TSN.

Head coach Mike Johnston described the setback as a minor injury Monday, telling reporters he left practice at the end of a three-on-three drill.

Dupuis scored a goal and recorded seven shots in four games during the preseason. He has not played 40 regular season games since the lockout-shortened campaign in 2013.
