Giants' Cruz re-aggravates calf injury during practice Wednesday

New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz re-aggravated a recurring calf injury during practice Wednesday.

"Victor came out and tried to do individuals. He felt the calf again and that's all he did," Giants head coach Tom Coughlin said.

Cruz was convinced he'd be able to make his season debut against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. It appears likely he'll sit out again.

The receiver suffered a torn patellar tendon last October and hasn't returned since. Cruz caught 23 passes for 337 yards and a touchdown last season before succumbing to injury.

In Cruz's absence, the Giants will need to rely upon Odell Beckham Jr. and Rueben Randle to lead their receiving core.
