DFS: Week 4 NFL Combo Plays

Week 3 included plenty of high scoring, not only in the NFL, but also across major DFS tournaments and cash game alike as offensive coordinators and quarterbacks played the hits.

The MCL injury sustained by Ben Roethlisberger will leave the fate of the Pittsburgh Steelers and their wide receivers in the left hand of Michael Vick. If this were 10 years ago, Vick and Antonio Brown would make an excellent combo play, due to the running threat of both players.

Luckily the Steelers play on Thursday night, so no one can be tempted by the 2015 version of Mike Vick.

Best Bets:

With the Green Bay Packers favored to score four touchdowns against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 4, combining Aaron Rodgers with the trio of Randall Cobb, James Jones and Ty Montgomery could realistically return value.

Here are the quarterback/pass-catcher combinations of mere mortals with the best chances to contribute to a winning lineup in Week 4:

Derek Carr and Amari Cooper, Raiders (at Bears)

Cooper finished with 134 receiving yards in Week 3 against the Cleveland Browns, giving him 290 receiving yards through his first three games. That's the fourth-highest total of any rookie receiver in that time span.

If Carr had thrown one - or both - of his touchdown passes to Cooper, instead of to Seth Roberts and Andre Holmes, it could've contributed to a very nice payday for people who used this stack in Week 3.

In Week 4 this tandem will face a Bears team that has a DVOA of 93% against No. 1 receivers, according to ProFootballOutsiders.com. For reference, the Denver Broncos have the league's best DVOA against No. 1s, at -123.2%.

Cooper should move up the leaderboard for the best four-game start by a rookie receiver.

Andrew Luck and Donte Moncrief, Colts (vs. Jaguars)

With gameday reports suggesting that Luck will sit out Week 4, the value of his receiving corps has hit rock bottom with few viable options.

It's pretty safe to say Moncrief has fully surpassed Andre Johnson in usage, production and Luck favoritism but that won't necessarily translate with veteran backup Matt Hasselbeck expected under center against the Jaguars.

Moncrief leads the Colts in receptions and touchdowns through three weeks, with 17. He trails Hilton by just two targets and 27 yards.

While Moncrief has been producing like a No. 1 receiver, he is still likely to be treated as the Colts' No. 2 option by opposing defenses. In Week 4 he'll face a Jacksonville Jaguars team that has a far more difficult time covering No. 2 receivers (DVOA of 50.8%) than they do No. 1s (DVOA of 22.7%).

Russell Wilson and Jimmy Graham, Seahawks (vs. Lions)

As expected, a return to Seattle, the return of SS Kam Chancellor, and a matchup with QB Jimmy Clausen and the Chicago Bears, saw a (partial) return to form for the Seattle Seahawks in Week 3.

After complaining about his role, Graham collected a season-high seven receptions and 83 receiving yards in Week 3. Combined with his second touchdown of the season, Graham is sure to be happier now.

Wilson has already rushed for 137 yards this season, and he'll be opposed by a Lions defense that allowed 21 rushing yards and a touchdown to Minnesota Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater in Week 2.

TE Kyle Rudolph also had a receiving touchdown in that game.
