UCLA's Myles Jack diagnosed with torn anterior meniscus, out 4-6 months

UCLA's defense has been absorbing injury blows all season, but this latest one may be too much to withstand.

Bruins linebacker Myles Jack will miss the remainder of the year with a knee injury, head coach Jim Mora announced Wednesday. Jack joins defensive lineman Eddie Vanderdoes and cornerback Fabian Moreau as defensive starters UCLA will be without for the rest of the season.

The junior injured his knee during Tuesday's practice, and Mora noted it was a tear of his anterior meniscus. Jack will be out 4-6 months and it remains to be seen if he returns to UCLA or heads to the NFL.

A two-way player for the Bruins in 2013, Jack focused mainly on defense last season. He's a two-time All-Pac 12 player and was a preseason All-American, posting 87 tackles and eight tackles for loss in 2014. He also clinched a Bruins win Saturday over BYU with an interception in the final two minutes.

The injury comes as UCLA prepares to face No. 16 Arizona in a critical Pac-12 showdown on Saturday night. Both teams are currently 3-0.

UCLA will have to rely on Jayon Brown and Isaako Savaiinaea to pick up the slack.
