Cowboys promote Kellen Moore from practice squad
Thomas Campbell / US PRESSWIRE
With Tony Romo facing a lengthy absence, the Dallas Cowboys have promoted quarterback Kellen Moore from their practice squad.
After reportedly working out veteran backups Christian Ponder and Josh Johnson, the Cowboys appear to be comfortable enough with Moore to proceed with him backing up Brandon Weeden.
Moore was drafted by the Detroit Lions when offensive coordinator Scott Linehan was with the team and his comfort level with the Boise State product is likely a factor in the decision.
The Cowboys could still sign a veteran backup as an insurance policy with only two quarterbacks on the roster until Romo returns.
