Report: Tony Romo won't have surgery, will miss about 8 weeks

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo won't require surgery on his fractured left clavicle and is expected to miss about eight weeks, Zac Jackson from Pro Football Talk reports.

Romo took to his Twitter account Monday afternoon to thank fans for their support, and promised to return:

It's good news for the Cowboys, though it likely won't speed up Romo's recovery by a significant margin. Bones heal at different rates for different players, but it's extremely unlikely that Romo will return to the field before November, at the earliest.

Romo suffered the same injury in 2010 and missed the final 10 games of the season.

The Cowboys' bye is in Week 6, so it's plausible the Cowboys will have Romo back on the field for their final seven games.
