Oregon quarterback Vernon Adams did not start Saturday versus Georgia State due to a broken finger.

Adams injured his finger in a Week 1 win over Eastern Washington and played through the ailment last week against Michigan State.

Backup Jeff Lockie, who took most of Oregon's first-team reps during practice this week, got the start.

It's likely the Ducks are simply being cautious with Adams, given next week's critical game against No. 21 Utah.

Lockie knows the Oregon offense well and played sparingly behind Marcus Mariota over the past two seasons, so the Ducks have a good shot at firing on all cylinders offensively.
