There will be no professional tryout for Steve Bernier.
The veteran forward has signed a one-year contract with the New York Islanders which will reportedly pay him $750,000, according to Arthur Staple of Newsday.
Bernier's signing comes just moments after speedy forward Michael Grabner was dealt to the Toronto Maple Leafs in a six-player deal, effectively freeing up room on the roster.
He'll assume a depth role in Brooklyn, but does carry a scoring punch. He added 16 goals and 32 points for the New Jersey Devils last season.
