Dillashaw vs. Cruz set for Jan. 17
The old guard will square off with the new guard with the UFC bantamweight title on the line on Jan. 17.
T.J. Dillashaw, the 135-pound kingpin, will face former champion Dominick Cruz when the promotion returns to Boston for a FOX Sports 1 card, UFC president Dana White announced Wednesday on "UFC Tonight."
Once a pound-for-pound stalwart, a string of injuries and multiple knee surgeries completely derailed Cruz's career, as the former champion has only fought once since 2011, a 61-second decimation of Takeya Mizugaki at UFC 178 last September.
After a completely lopsided title seizure at UFC 173, Dillashaw has successfully defended his title twice, including an absolute pasting of Renan Barao in a championship rematch at UFC on FOX 16 in July.
