Report: UCLA's Eddie Vanderdoes tears ACL; will miss remainder of 2015

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

UCLA defensive tackle Eddie Vanderdoes tore his ACL on Saturday, reports FOX Sports' Bruce Feldman.

The news was first reported by Rivals.com's Edward Lewis.

Vanderdoes suffered the injury during the Bruins' 34-16 win over Virginia, when he helped teammate Kenny Clark to his feet after the nose tackle caught a touchdown. UCLA head coach Jim Mora said after the game that Vanderdoes' knee had "locked up" earlier in the game, and he had returned to the field.

The loss of Vanderdoes has the potential to resonate throughout the remainder of the team's season, as he's one of UCLA's premier defensive linemen. UCLA lacks experience at defensive tackle, and the injury may force the Bruins to turn to 20-year-old redshirt junior Eli Ankou.

Vanderdoes had made the CBS Sports Preseason All-Pac 12 team, an honor that predicted a productive 2015 season for the 305-pound junior.

UCLA has not yet announced a date for Vanderdoes' surgery.
