Sebastian Giovinco's chance to represent his country has slipped through his fingers.
The pint-sized attacker, 28, was called back into the Italian national team for the first time in nearly a year ahead of upcoming Euro 2016 qualifiers, but he'll miss the Azzurri's two matches against Malta and Bulgaria due to an adductor injury.
The Toronto FC star, who's lit up MLS with 17 goals and 10 assists in 25 matches this season, suffered the ailment in the club's recent 2-1 victory over Montreal.
While he will not take part in the aforementioned matches, he will remain with the team and return to Toronto later this week, at which point the injury will be evaluated further.
