Lions grant Ryan Broyles his release

The Detroit Lions waived Ryan Broyles on Monday, granting the wide receiver his release after a request made over the weekend.
Despite actively seeking an opportunity to hit the open market and land with another team, according to Dave Birkett of The Detroit Free Press, Broyles shared a message on his official Twitter account to thank the organization and its fans.

Broyles joined the Lions as a second-round draft pick out of Oklahoma in 2012, but injury issues saw him appear in only 21 games over his first three seasons.
It's unclear whether Broyles was in position to earn a roster spot prior to requesting his release, as the Lions boast a relatively crowded group of receivers behind starters Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate.
