Packers' Randall Cobb suffers shoulder injury, not believed to be serious

Chris Humphreys / USA TODAY Sports

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Randall Cobb was sidelined in Saturday's preseason contest against the Philadelphia Eagles after suffering a shoulder injury early in the first quarter.

Packers head coach Mike McCarthy told reporters post-game he didn't believe Cobb's injury was serious. X-rays revealed that Cobb did not suffer a broken collarbone.

"We're just taking it day by day and we'll find out more tomorrow," Cobb said to ESPN's Rob Demovsky.

Cobb went to the locker room after landing hard on his right side during a catch attempt on the sideline.

Having already lost Jordy Nelson to a season-ending knee injury, any sort of extended absence for Cobb would be a crushing blow to Green Bay's talented receiving corps.

Cobb earned his first Pro Bowl appearance and a lucrative long-term extension after hauling in 91 receptions for 1,287 yards and 12 touchdowns last season.
