Bills' quarterback quartet excel in win over Steelers

The Buffalo Bills' open competition for the team's starting quarterback job became a lot more compelling.

EJ Manuel, Tyrod Taylor, Matt Cassel, and Matt Simms went a combined 30-of-33 for 386 yards and three touchdowns in a 43-19 rout of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Though he's the least likely candidate to win the role, Simms was perfect Saturday, going 5-of-5 for 65 yards and a touchdown.

Bills head coach Rex Ryan said post-game that he'd decide the starter tomorrow, but will not reveal the choice publicly, according to Joe Buscaglia of WKBW.

Manuel started the game, going 7-of-8 for 170 yards and two touchdowns, sporting a perfect 158.3 passer rating. The 2013 first-round pick lived up to his billing, and made a strong push to win back the starting job he ceded control of last year.

Taylor is considered by many the front-runner in the race thus far, and went 12-of-13 for 122 yards. Easily the most potent rushing threat of the Bills' quartet, Taylor also scampered for a 20-yard rushing touchdown.

Cassel went 6-of-7 for 38 yards, but, remains the third-most likely candidate to become the starter after standout performances from Manuel and Taylor.

Although Taylor appears to be holding a tentative lead, the Bills' decision may come down to the wire.
