David De Gea left off Manchester United's Champions League squad

Despite assurances that David De Gea won't be sold this summer, Louis van Gaal left the Spanish 'keeper off Manchester United's Champions League team.

Sergio Romero figures to start between the sticks yet again when United kicks off its second leg against Club Brugge on Wednesday.

United released its team sheet Tuesday for the fixture, which the English side leads 3-1 after the first leg at Old Trafford, but didn't reveal why De Gea was left off.

The 24-year-old has yet to play for United in league or European competition, with Van Gaal previously citing De Gea's fragile state of mind amid transfer speculation as the reason for his exclusion.

The Dutch boss defiantly ruled out selling De Gea this summer, all but extinguishing the chances he joins Real Madrid before the transfer window closes at the end of August.
