Texas A&M tabs quarterback Kyle Allen as starter

Texas A&M head coach Kevin Sumlin ended the suspense Monday, naming Kyle Allen the team's starting quarterback.
Allen was in a surprisingly close competition with elite 2015 recruit Kyler Murray, who still might see a decent number of snaps off the bench this year, but Allen was simply too good as a true freshman last year to head to the bench in 2015.
A top-ranked quarterback recruit of 2014, Allen obviously had no shortage of pedigree himself, and he showed a lot of upside by throwing for 12 touchdowns in a four-game stretch against Auburn, Missouri, LSU, and West Virginia.
In a Kevin Sumlin offense with lots of help at receiver, Allen should post elite passing numbers this year, even if Murray steals a handful of snaps.
