Report: Packers will reach out to Reggie Wayne pending Jordy Nelson's MRI result

The Green Bay Packers will reach out to free-agent wide receiver Reggie Wayne if an MRI confirms that Jordy Nelson indeed suffered a torn ACL, according to Dianna Marie Russini of ESPN.

Wayne's market appears to have heated up after a slow start to the offseason, as the longtime Indianapolis Colts wideout was also meeting and taking a physical with the New England Patriots over the weekend.

While Wayne may be closing in on the end of his pro career, if he returns to health after two seasons in which he struggled through injuries, he could be a valuable target in the Packers' passing game.

Should Green Bay reach a deal with Wayne, his experience would likely give him the opportunity to earn the No. 3 receiver job behind Randall Cobb and Davante Adams.

Wayne spent the first 14 years of his career with the Colts before going unsigned ahead of free agency in the offseason. His 14,345 receiving yards and 82 touchdown catches over that span each rank second in franchise history.
