Report: Lakers agree to terms with Frazier; no Upshaw deal imminent

The Los Angeles Lakers have agreed to terms with undrafted rookie Michael Frazier II, Eric Pincus of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Frazier will sign a two-year deal worth $1.4 million, though only $50,000 is guaranteed.

The 6-foot-4 guard averaged 12.1 points and 1.4 assists at Florida last season. He shot 43.2 percent from deep across three seasons with the Gators and projects as one of the best shooters from the draft class. Given his superb stroke, he may not need a second skill to secure a spot in the NBA, though he works hard enough at both ends that he shouldn't be entirely one-dimensional.

Frazier is expected to sign later this week, bringing the Lakers' roster to 16 players. That leaves Frazier to compete with forward Jonathan Holmes, who was also surprisingly undrafted, for the 15th spot, although the Lakers also have the option of cutting Tarik Black or Jabari Brown, both of whom have unguaranteed deals.

The Lakers will probably bring in a few more players to compete for the final roster spots, one of whom could be Robert Upshaw. Like Holmes and Frazier, Upshaw was expected to be drafted, perhaps as early as the first round, but didn't hear his name called.

With red flags aplenty, Upshaw slid, and the Lakers reportedly agreed to a two-year deal with him on July 11. That contract has yet to be submitted to the league office, and Pincus reports the Lakers have "no immediate plans" to sign Upshaw.
