Cousins, Griffin highlight Team USA intersquad scrimmage rosters

The biggest stars will duck the spotlight, but there will be plenty of American talent on display Thursday.

The third and final day of Team USA minicamp will feature an intersquad scrimmage between Team White and Team Blue. As managing director Jerry Colangelo puts it, the game will be more of an "off-season type of all-star game."

"With no official international competition on our schedule this summer, and knowing that some of the players were coming off of injuries while others were not yet ready to actively play in a game, we made this Showcase voluntary and not a requirement. I’m excited to see who steps up in the Showcase," Colangelo said.

The respective rosters are as follows:

Team White Team Blue
Arron Afflalo Harrison Barnes
Michael Carter-Williams Bradley Beal
DeMarcus Cousins DeMar DeRozan
Draymond Green Andre Drummond
Blake Griffin Kenneth Faried
Terrance Jones Rudy Gay
Kawhi Leonard Amir Johnson
Mason Plumlee Victor Oladipo
Klay Thompson Elfrid Payton
C.J. Watson -

Oklahoma City Thunder assistant head coach Monty Williams will coach Team Blue, while former Chicago Bulls bench boss Tom Thibodeau will direct Team White.

The rosters feature a noticeable absence of top-end talent. Stars like Stephen Curry, LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Anthony Davis, and James Harden, who all project as favorites to make the 12-man Olympic roster, will sit out the optional scrimmage.

Team White has a significant advantage in terms of talent. They're short on ball-handling in the backcourt, but Griffin and Cousins are by far the most talented players on either roster. Tack on two excellent two-way wings in Thompson and Leonard, and the squad should dominate.

However, don't count out Team Blue, who have the makings of a devastating small-ball team stocked with athletes to attack in transition. Drummond, DeRozan, Faried, and Gay were contributors to the Team USA squad that captured the 2014 FIBA World Cup last summer.

The scrimmage will tip off on Thursday at 10:30 p.m. ET.
