Spieth set to toy with Mickelson ahead of PGA Championship

Jordan Spieth is a professional golfer, but he's going to try his hand at being a professional troll.

The world No. 2 is preparing for Whistling Straits by playing a round teamed up with Justin Thomas against Phil Mickelson and Rickie Fowler, and he revealed a prank he has in store for "Lefty."

"Tuesday we've got a game with me and Justin Thomas versus Phil (Mickelson) and Rickie (Fowler). And I'm going to try to get the U.S. Open trophy flown in so I can sit it on the front of each green for Phil so I'll have something for him to - that's just dishing it back," Spieth told the media Sunday.

Mickelson, the longtime PGA Tour veteran, has five career major victories. He's won every one except the U.S. Open. Spieth lifted that trophy in June, and wants to make sure the 45-year-old knows it.

"We'll see if we can get somebody to carry it around for the round. It's the first time I have something on him," Spieth said.

No matter how worked up Mickelson gets by the ploy, hopefully it all ends as mere water under the bridge, next to the habitat of a true troll.
