Report: Everton braced for 3rd bid from Chelsea for John Stones
Chelsea is reportedly hoping third time's the charm in its pursuit of Everton's John Stones.
Everton is expecting a third bid in the region of £30 million from the reigning Premier League champion, according to Andy Hunter of the Guardian, after rejecting offers of £20 million and £26 million for the 21-year-old centre-back.
Despite the improved offer, manager Roberto Martinez is apparently adamant that Stones has no decision to make over his future, and Everton allegedly hasn't opened negotiations with Chelsea over a transfer.
Martinez complained about John Terry's suggestion Wednesday that Chelsea looked at Stones as someone for the future. Martinez said: "That is wrong; that is illegal. The rules don't allow you to comment on players who are registered at other clubs in that open manner. That is disappointing."
Stones, who featured in Everton's 2-2 draw versus Watford on Saturday, is viewed as a potential long-term replacement for Terry at Stamford Bridge.
