Aston Villa defender Aly Cissokho signs season-long loan with FC Porto

Aston Villa announced Wednesday that full-back Aly Cissokho has joined FC Porto on a season-long loan.

The Frenchman made 25 Premier League appearance for the Birmingham club last season, but fell behind Kieran Richardson and Ciaran Clark - who signed a four-year extension Wednesday - in manager Tim Sherwood's depth chart.
Surplus to requirements at Villa, Cissokho will be looking to play significant minutes with a Porto side desperate to battle Benfica for the Portuguese league title.
