Fantasy - NHL Player Rankings: 20-11

Isaiah J. Downing / USA Today

This week, we're counting down the top 50 players in fantasy hockey for the 2015-16 regular season.

20. Sharks F Joe Pavelski

Goals Assists +/- PIM Shots Points Per Game
37 33 12 29 261 0.85

Pavelski has proven to be no ordinary Joe, suiting up for every game since 2011-12 and averaging 35 goals a season.

His 37 goals last season slotted him alongside Tyler Seguin, Vladimir Tarasenko, and Max Pacioretty, and he definitely belongs in the same conversation as those superstars.

19. Canadiens D P.K. Subban

Goals Assists +/- PIM Shots Points Per Game
15 45 21 74 170 0.73

Only two defensemen are worthy of being in the top 25, and one of them is P.K. Subban.

A threat to make an offensive contribution whenever he's on the ice, Subban shoots, scores, hits, and racks up penalty minutes, and anchors any and every fantasy blue line.

18. Predators G Pekka Rinne

Wins GAA SV% SO
41 2.18 .923 4

Rinne came back from a serious hip injury with a vengeance last season, earning a nod as a Vezina Trophy finalist.

The Predators are more offensively minded than in the past, bolstered by a deep and talented defense corps. As such, Rinne appears poised to remain among the best goalies in the game.

17. Rangers F Rick Nash

Goals Assists +/- PIM Shots Points Per Game
42 27 29 36 304 0.87

Nash is and always has been a goal-scorer, and set a new career high at the age of 30 in 2014-15. He topped 300 shots for the fourth time in 12 seasons, and will be counted on to remain a high-volume shooter and scorer in New York.

With his concussion issues well in the past, Nash is free and clear to continue to do what he does best.

16. Ducks F Ryan Getzlaf

Goals Assists +/- PIM Shots Points Per Game
25 45 15 62 191 0.91

Getzlaf was a solid center option for fantasy owners last season, and will undoubtedly put up strong numbers while continuing to play with longtime running mate Corey Perry (who missed time last season with the mumps).

The Ducks are set to contend, and Getzlaf will remain the straw that stirs the drink in Anaheim - and for many a fantasy team.

15. Capitals F Nicklas Backstrom

Goals Assists +/- PIM Shots Points Per Game
18 60 5 40 153 0.95

One of the NHL's premiere playmakers, Backstrom - who led the league in assists last season - will have some new toys to play with after the additions of T.J. Oshie and Justin Williams to the Washington Capitals' lineup.

So not only will he continue to feed Alex Ovechkin, he'll have decent options on his right side.

Look out.

14. Flyers F Claude Giroux

Goals Assists +/- PIM Shots Points Per Game
25 48 -3 36 279 0.9

Giroux makes up one half of one of the league's most dynamic duos, and he's coming off another impressive season - although he failed to average more than a point per game for the first time since 2011-12.

He did, however, set a career high in shots, so his goal production could be set to rise if his shooting percentage (9 percent in 2014-15) climbs back toward his career average of 11.4 percent.

13. Canadiens G Carey Price

Wins GAA SV% SO
44 1.96 .933 9

Price distinguished himself as the best goalie in hockey last season, and there's no reason to put any player at his position ahead of him on any fantasy list.

Replicating his crazy numbers may be a tall task, but Price should certainly be the first goalie drafted in any fantasy league.

12. Penguins F Phil Kessel

Goals Assists +/- PIM Shots Points Per Game
25 36 -34 30 280 0.74

Kessel should take his already incendiary game to the next level in Pittsburgh. The sniper averaged 33.6 goals per 82 games during his six seasons in Toronto, largely without the benefit of a prominent center.

There's no telling how lining up with either Sidney Crosby or Evgeni Malkin will benefit his game, but Kessel appears to be a good bet to challenge for the league lead in goals, propelling him to the ranks of fantasy's elite.

11. Flyers F Jakub Voracek

Goals Assists +/- PIM Shots Points Per Game
22 59 1 78 221 0.99

Voracek tied for fourth in points with 81 this past season, on par with Ovechkin. He was rewarded with a massive contract extension in late July, and he and Giroux will be counted on to lead the Flyers' attack.

Voracek's entering his prime at 26, and could crack the 25-goal mark for the first time in his career while again averaging a point a night.
