Juventus defender Andrea Barzagli shelved with a thigh injury

Juventus center-back Andrea Barzagli will miss almost three weeks with a thigh injury.

Barzagli limped off in the first half of Saturday's friendly against Borussia Dortmund in St. Gallen, Switzerland, pulling up with an injury to his right thigh before being subbed off at the half.

A scan revealed that Barzagli has a first-grade tear in his right adductor muscle, and will be sidelined for 20 days, missing the Italian Super Cup against Lazio in Shanghai on August 8, according to the Juventus' official website.

In Barzagli's absence, Juventus will consider itself fortunate to have depth at the center-back position with Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini.

Discounting any further damage, Barzagli should be fit for Juventus' first Serie A match of the season at home to Udinese on August 22.
