Barao's coach on Dillashaw's punching power: 'I can tell he has Barbie hands'

T.J. Dillashaw absolutely wrecked Renan Barao in their first encounter last year, but according to Johnny Eduardo, Dillashaw's failure to close it out early proves his lack of punching power.

"If T.J. had excellent punching power, he would have finished it after that first knockdown." Eduardo, Barao's Muay Thai coach, told Combate, according to BloodyElbow.com's Lucas Rezende. "So I can tell he has Barbie hands. Let's see how it is now. That's all I can say about the current champion."

It's an interesting stance for Eduardo to take considering the lopsided nature of the first bout, but he's confident Barao has made the proper adjustments to emerge victorious during the rematch at UFC on FOX 16 on Saturday.

"I have been with Barao for a while," Eduardo said. "I have been harnessing his Muay Thai since before his WEC days. It's a pleasure to work with him and improve his footwork. He's a guy who charges forward a lot, but now he will do it more intelligently, he will cut angles and pick him apart. He will move well, because he was lost the first time. I believe T.J. will suffer from beginning to end and Barao will finish him by the third. It's going to get ugly, T.J. It's going to get crazy, brother."
