U.S. Justice Department officially requests extradition of ex-FIFA VP Jack Warner
The U.S. Justice Department has put in a request to Trinidad and Tobago attorney general Gavin Nicholas for the extradition of former FIFA vice president Jack Warner on corruption charges.
Nicholas told reporters that his office will evaluate the request before deciding whether to extradite the former CONCACAF president, who faces allegations of racketeering, wire fraud, and money laundering.
Warner will appear before a court next Monday, and promised that, should he be prosecuted, he wouldn't hold back on bringing down everyone else involved, saying, "Not even death will stop the avalanche that is coming. The die is cast. There can be no turning back. Let the chips fall where they fall."
He is currently out on bail in Port of Spain, Trinidad.
The Eastern District of New York is leading the prosecution.
