Report: NFL did not respond to settlement offer from Tom Brady

Joe Camporeale / USA TODAY Sports

Tom Brady tried to make peace with the NFL, but the league showed no interest in reaching a compromise.

The NFLPA made an offer on Brady's behalf to settle the four-game suspension Brady was handed for his role in the "Deflategate" scandal, but the offer was met with silence from the NFL, ESPN's Dan Graziano reports.

Terms of the settlement offer are unknown. Brady is believed to be willing to accept a fine but not miss any games.

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reports that a small group of powerful owners is pushing hard for the NFL to hold firm on the four-game ban Brady was issued earlier this year.

Brady's appeal was heard on June 23. The NFL says there is no timeline for announcing a ruling on the appeal.

Unless the NFL reverses course and repeals Brady's suspension, it's likely this case will end up in court. In such an event, Brady may be permitted to play for the Patriots under an injunction until the case is resolved.
