Report: Jeff Taylor close to deal with Spanish powerhouse Real Madrid

Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

Jeff Taylor, who appeared in only 29 games for the Charlotte Hornets this past season, is close to reaching a deal with Real Madrid of Spain, according to sources of RealGM's Shams Charania.

The news comes a day after Taylor's agent said he was turning down an offer from Israeli powerhouse Maccabi Tel Aviv.

The Hornets declined to offer the 6-foot-7 small forward a qualifying offer last month. He served a 24-game NBA suspension stemming from his guilty plea to a domestic violence charge in Michigan last fall. In three seasons in Charlotte, Taylor only played in 132 of a possible 246 games, averaging 6.1 points.

The 26-year-old was a second-round draft choice out of Vanderbilt in 2012.
