Florida State's Jalen Ramsey says moving to cornerback is 'pretty natural'

Florida State defensive back Jalen Ramsey says he's "feeling good" about moving to cornerback for the upcoming season.

"It's pretty natural, actually; that's (cornerback) where I started my first three college career games. I've always been a corner my entire life," he said about the move in an interview with ESPN Monday at ACC Kickoff. "Honestly, when I moved to safety my freshman year, then when I was at the nickel spot last year, those were more of an adjustment to me than actually moving to corner."

These sorts of positional changes have taken a backseat in what's been a tumultuous offseason for the Seminoles, who had two players charged earlier this month with misdemeanor battery for allegedly assaulting women in separate incidents.

Freshman quarterback De'Andre Johnson was dismissed by the team after video emerged of him punching a woman in the face at a Tallahassee bar. Within the same week of Johnson's dismissal, the team suspended starting running back Dalvin Cook indefinitely after he was arrested for allegedly punching a woman in the face several times during an altercation outside a local bar.

Ramsey said the Seminoles' coaching staff have always encouraged players to behave responsibly off the field, including bringing in special speakers to drive home this point. Since the embarrassing incidents became public earlier this month, he said the sole noticeable difference in the lockeroom has been an increase in the number of speakers brought in to address the team.

"Nothing has really changed, we're just going to try to focus up more and take steps to bring Florida State back into the good light," Ramsey added.
