Atletico Madrid in talks with Chelsea over possible Filipe Luis transfer
Filipe Luis might be on his way back to Spain after Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo confirmed his side are in talks with Chelsea over a possible transfer for the defender.
The left-back is only one year into the three-year contract he signed when he completed his transfer from Atletico, but is reportedly eager for a move back to the Vicente Calderon because of a lack of playing time.
While Cerezo isn't completely confident at this stage, he revealed Atletico is more than willing to welcome back the Brazilian international following his year abroad in the Premier League.
"There are negotiations in place but I don't know how fruitful they will be," Cerezo told Spanish media, courtesy of Sky Sports. "Filipe Luis is a magnificent player.
"We would be delighted if he comes back and I think that in the end, we will find a solution.
"As always, the financial aspect takes precedence over the sentimental aspect but I believe a deal can be reached."
It could be a good bit of business for the Spanish side if they can procure Luis' services at a reduced price compared to the reported £15.8 million transfer fee they received last summer.
His stock has understandably gone down following his season in England where Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho rarely gave him an opportunity at Stamford Bridge. He only managed nine league starts and appeared in 26 matches in all competitions.
