As Tiger Woods struggled on his way to a 4-over 76 on Friday at St. Andrews, ESPN's Paul Azinger did not hold back his disappointment with the 14-time major champion.

"It’s hard to watch the greatest player of this generation be a middle of the pack hack," Azinger said during Thursday's first-round coverage, "Here’s a stat for you: Tiger Woods is 21 over par for his last 45 holes at major championships."

"You almost want to say, ‘Who are you and what have you done to Tiger Woods?'"

Woods only hit 10 greens in regulation, which was the least of any player who finished 18 holes when he wrapped up his round, and was only two strokes better than his St. Andrews career-worst round of 78 he shot as a 19-year-old.

Azinger, whose only major victory came at the 1993 PGA Championship, expressed great concern with what the 39-year-old will need to do to turn back into the Tiger of old.

"Where do you go from here if you are Tiger Woods?" Azinger asked. "No two swings have looked the same.

"Nobody needs to tell Tiger what to think, they need to remind him to think."
