Mets' Nieuwenhuis hits 3 homers in first 3 at-bats

The New York Mets have been desperately searching for some offensive production, and they got it from an unlikely source Sunday afternoon.
Left fielder Kirk Nieuwenhuis, homer-less in 66 at-bats entering play versus the Arizona Diamondbacks, has launched three consecutive home runs in his first three plate appearances to become the first Mets player to homer three times in a home game. It's also only the 10th time a Met has recorded a trio of long balls in a contest.

No Mets player has ever hit four homers in a game.
