The Chicago Cubs plan to end their first half by paying tribute to one of the greatest players in franchise history.
The team announced it will honor the late Ernie Banks on July 12, the last game before the All-Star break, by wearing his famous No. 14 pinstriped jersey for their series finale against the crosstown rival Chicago White Sox at Wrigley Field.

The 1958 uniform is especially noteworthy for Banks, who hit a league-leading 47 homers and slugged .614 that year, his first of back-to-back National League MVP awards. Banks, who's among the Cubs' all-time leaders in nearly every major offensive category, died of a heart attack in January.
The Cubs, meanwhile, will also play a hand in remembering White Sox legend Minnie Minoso during their series opener at U.S. Cellular Field on Aug. 14.

Minoso, considered one of the most popular players in White Sox history, earned seven All-Star selections and three Gold Glove awards over a 17-year career that saw the Cuban outfielder hit .298/.389/.459 with 186 homers and 205 steals. He passed away in March.
