Report: Giants' Jason Pierre-Paul suffers burns on 3 fingers in fireworks accident
New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul reportedly suffered a serious hand injury in a fireworks-related incident, according to Andy Slater of 940 AM WINZ.
It was reported that Pierre-Paul suffered burns on his palm, and three fingers, but no fingers needed to be amputated, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
I am told Pierre-Paul has some burns on one hand and they are checking his fingers for nerve damage but prognosis is not terrible.

Hearing JPP's hand injury involves loss of flesh, which brings muscular issues into question, but sounds like all fingers remain intact.

The 26-year-old was angling for a massive contract extension after being franchise tagged this summer. If healthy, Pierre-Paul was slated to earn $14.8 million for the upcoming season but the Giants' star didn't sign the tender.
Both the Giants and Pierre-Paul will need to agree upon a long-term contract before the July 15 deadline, or else he will be forced into a one-year deal with the designated $14.8 million owed, and can become an unrestricted free agent in 2016.
New York could rescind the franchise player designation, which would instantaneously make Pierre-Paul an unrestricted free agent. However, it's highly unlikely the team will do so.
Pierre-Paul recorded 77 tackles, 12.5 sacks, and three forced fumbles in 2014.
