Nick Kyrgios wore an illegal headband, whiffed badly, and still had a great day at Wimbledon
It was quite a day for Nick Kyrgios.
The Australian squared off against fellow young gun Milos Raonic in his third-round contest at Wimbledon, with the 20-year-old providing a little bit of everything throughout the match en route to a 5-7, 7-5, 7-6, 6-3 victory.
There were ridiculous moments: like when the No. 26 seed was wearing the official Wimbledon headband, but was forced to turn it inside out because its colors did not comply with the tournament's dress code.
There were times when he was interactive and heated. Most notably, when he thrashed his racket to the ground, only to have it pop up and bounce into the crowd, without being penalized.
Or when the Australian needlessly acted like a young Roger Federer, but failed to mimic the veterans impressive tweener-lob.
And then there were light moments, like the one below, where the live and TV audience got to see the humility a 20-year-old can have amid the most pressing time of his life.
He was tense in the fourth set, while on the brink of securing a spot in Round 4 of the prestigious major. He clutched his racket a little firmer, yet still twiddled it in his hands in between returns, eventually closing out the match.
It was all in a day's work for the young Kyrgios.
