Urban Meyer on QBs nearing full health: 'The competition will be intense'
The question everyone in college football wants to know the answer to is who will be starting at quarterback for Ohio State when the Buckeyes open their schedule against Virginia Tech on Sept. 7.
On Wednesday, Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer updated the health status of quarterbacks Braxton Miller and J.T. Barrett, saying Miller "is pretty close to full speed," and Barrett is "close to 95 percent," according to Ari Wasserman of the Northeast Ohio Media Group.
Miller missed all of last season after suffering a torn labrum in his throwing shoulder during fall camp. He's spent the past year rehabbing the injury. Barrett excelled in his place, but broke his ankle in the second half of the team's regular season finale against Michigan.
Both players gave way to Cardale Jones, who guided the Buckeyes to victories in the Big Ten title game, the Sugar Bowl, and the national title game in their stead, leaving Meyer in a tough spot with all three back and healthy.
"The competition will be intense," Meyer said.
