The Calgary Flames have signed forward Michael Frolik to a five-year deal.

TSN's Bob McKenzie has the deal valued at $21.5 million.

Frolik spoke with media about his signing with the Flames.

"I'm really excited about it. Calgary had a great year last year and they got a great young group of guys," said Frolik. "I know the city is pretty good, too. I have a family now so it mattered too in that ... I'm really happy to be a Calgary Flame."

Frolik, 27, was one of the most sought-after unrestricted free agents available on the market after scoring 19 goals and adding 23 assists in 82 games and believes he has a lot to offer the Flames.

"I think you can use me on the power play and you can use me on the PK, too," Frolik told the Flames official website. "I think that those things can be my game. I am a kind of player that can play both ways, can be first line, can be third line, can be second line. You can move me through the lineup, up and down. I think I'm a hard working guy and that's what I'm looking to do in Calgary now."

The forward just completed a one-year, $3.3-million contract with the Winnipeg Jets.
