Jackson Martinez is officially a member of Atletico Madrid after the Spanish club agreed to pay the release fee in his contract with FC Porto.

Atletico reached out to the Portuguese club Tuesday and agreed to pay €35 million to secure his services, Porto announced.

While Atletico have yet to comment on the deal, reports indicate Martinez will sign a four-year contract, according to Sky Sports.

Martinez should transition smoothly into the Spanish outfit and slide right into the vacant striker's role that Mario Mandzukic left behind when he joined Juventus.

His impressive scoring record with Porto may be a sign of things to come if he can follow in the footsteps of fellow Colombian Radamel Falcao. The AS Monaco striker thrived in La Liga after making the switch from Porto to Atletico, with Jackson expected bring his impressive scoring record over to Spain.

The Colombian striker scored 92 goals during his 136 appearances and led the Primeira Liga in scoring for all three seasons he spent with Porto.
