Anthony Davis: Signs Five-Year, $145 Million Extension
Davis agreed to a five-year extension with New Orleans worth $145 million, Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski reports.
Analysis:
The contract contains a player option after the fourth year, but as Davis had one more year left on his rookie contract he will remain in New Orleans for at least the next five years. It is very reasonable to expect Davis to be the best player in the league for the majority of the length of that extension, and indeed he will probably be the consensus No. 1 pick in fantasy leagues in 2015-16. Still just 22 years old, Davis can still improve on his excellent campaign last season, and now with offensive-minded Alvin Gentry taking over the coaching duties, there is even more room for optimism going forward.
