New York Yankees right fielder Carlos Beltran made an early exit from Tuesday's game against the Los Angeles Angels, departing in the fifth inning with a ribcage injury, according to MLB.com's Bryan Hoch.

Beltran, who has appeared in all but seven of his team's games this season, was replaced in right field by Garrett Jones in the bottom of the fifth after appearing to hurt himself on a swing in the top of the inning.

The 38-year-old will be re-evaluated again Wednesday before the club determines how to proceed. Beltran, who entered Tuesday's game hitting .364/.447/.667 over his previous nine contests, has battled oblique issues in the past, though, citing discomfort in the area towards the 2013 All-Star break.
