Mariners' Montgomery has no-hitter through 6 vs Padres

SAN DIEGO (AP) Seattle Mariners rookie Mike Montgomery has lost his no-hit bid when Yangervis Solarte doubled for the San Diego Padres with one out in the seventh inning.

Making his sixth major league start Tuesday night, Montgomery opened the seventh by getting Justin Upton on a fly to left. Solarte hit Montgomery's next pitch into the left-field corner, becoming the first Padres player to reach second base.

Montgomery had walked three and hit a batter with a pitch.

The Mariners lead 4-0.

Montgomery is coming off his first shutout, a five-hitter against Kansas City.
