NFL supplemental draft set for July 9

The NFL's 2015 supplemental draft will take place July 9, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Teams using a pick in the supplemental draft forfeit the corresponding pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. The order is the same as April's draft, and this draft will also go seven rounds.

Since 2012, no team has given up a draft pick in the actual draft to take a player in the supplemental draft. The last time this happened, the Cleveland Browns took (now suspended wide receiver) Josh Gordon in the second round.

The most intriguing talent eligible is Clemson offensive tackle Isaiah Battle. It's unlikely a team will use a high draft pick on him, but a late-round flyer may be used on the big tackle with a troubled past.

Supplemental draft picks generally carry some risk, due to off-field issues, injuries, or eligibility restrictions. Notable past picks include Ahmad Brooks, Jared Gaither, Cris Carter, and Bernie Kosar.
