Bruins trade Martin Jones to Sharks for 1st-round pick, prospect

The Boston Bruins have traded goaltender Martin Jones to the San Jose Sharks.

San Jose will send Boston a 2016 first-round pick and prospect Sean Kuraly.

Boston continues a flurry of moves, having already traded defenseman Dougie Hamilton to the Calgary Flames, moved forward Milan Lucic to the Los Angeles Kings, and acquired forward Zac Rinaldo from the Philadelphia Flyers.

Bruins general manager Don Sweeney has been busy and said during a conference call earlier Tuesday that Jones could be in play.

Jones, 25, was part of the return for Lucic from the Kings, but won't be suiting up in black and gold next season.

With the departure of Antti Niemi to the Dallas Stars, Jones currently slots in as the Sharks' starting netminder, with Alex Stalock set to be his backup.

Jones appeared in 15 games last season for the Kings, posting a record of 4-5-2 with a goals-against average of 2.25 and a save percentage of .906, while earning three shutouts.
