Oregon and Auburn will meet on the football field at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas in the 2019 AdvoCare Classic on Aug. 31, 2019, Auburn athletic director Jay Jacobs announced Tuesday.

"I'm thrilled that Auburn will face Oregon in an epic matchup of two elite programs on a big stage to open the 2019 season," Jacobs said in a statement. "I know how much it means to our players to have an opportunity to play in high-profile games; it is one reason they choose to come to Auburn. I'm also happy for the Auburn family, the best fans in college football. They always travel in masses to support our program, so this is a great reward for them as well."

The only previous meeting between these teams on the football field occurred Jan. 10, 2011, when the Tigers defeated the Ducks 22-19 in the BCS National Championship Game in Glendale, Ariz.

"Playing in the national championship game twice in the last five years and games such as the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game and the AdvoCare Classic is a great opportunity for the national audience to become more aware of Auburn, our academic successes, our community service endeavors, and of course, our success on the field of play," Jacobs said.

Oregon has made a habit of scheduling tough non-conference opponents, with upcoming dates against Michigan in 2015, Nebraska in 2016 and 2017, and Ohio State in 2020 and 2021.

"We're excited about the opportunity to compete against another high-quality non-conference opponent," Oregon head coach Mark Helfrich said in a statement.

Oregon will receive a $3.5-million payout for its participation in the game.
