Flyers ink VandeVelde to extension
Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Philadelphia Flyers signed forward Chris VandeVelde to a multi-year extension Monday. Further terms were not disclosed.
VandeVelde, slated to become an unrestricted free agent Wednesday, posted career bests of nine goals and 15 points over 72 games in his first full NHL season in 2014-15.
The 28-year-old had recorded just one goal and three assists in 46 games with Edmonton and Philadelphia prior to last season.
VandeVelde will be reunited with new Flyers head coach Dave Hakstol, who also coached the Minnesota product at the University of North Dakota from 2006-10.
