Blackhawks retain D Rundblad

Chicago, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - The defending Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks have reached agreement with defenseman David Rundblad on a two-year extension shortly before he was to hit restricted free agency.

Rundblad, a former first-round pick of St. Louis, set career bests of three goals and 14 points over 49 regular-season games for Chicago in 2014-15. The 24-year-old Swede also participated in five postseason contests during the Blackhawks' recent title run.

Over 104 career NHL games, Rundblad has accumulated four goals, 19 assists and a minus-four rating. He was acquired by the Blackhawks in a trade with Arizona in March of 2014.
